The Executive Chairman of Ikenne Local Government, Hon. Jamiu Mohammed Asimi, was on Thursday, 26th June 2025, honoured with an Award of Excellence as an Ambassador of Ethics and Self-Value Orientation by the Centre for Ethics and Self-Value Orientation.
The award was in recognition of his outstanding leadership and performance in key areas such as Education, Economic Development, Security, Transparency and Accountability, Community Engagement, Service Delivery, and Budget Execution.
The Head of Local Government
Administration (HOLGA), Mr. Wole Abraham Adeosun, FCIA, in his welcome address, appreciated the Centre for identifying and honouring the Executive Chairman as one of the few Local Government Chairmen selected for this prestigious award. He also prayed for the continued strength and success of the Centre in fulfilling its mission.
The Executive Director of the Centre, Ethicist Prince Salih Yakubu, while delivering his remarks, stated that the organization for over 20 years, remained committed to the fight against corruption in Nigeria. He added that Hon. Asimi’s leadership stands out at the grassroots level, hence the need to recognize his efforts is paramount.
The Vice Chairman of Ikenne Local Government, Hon. Muhammed Efuwape; the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Mr. Ifetayo Ifede; the Leader of the House, Hon. Olawale Odujoko; the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Mr. Wole Abraham Adeosun, FCIA; the Director of Finance and Supply, Mrs. Olubukonla Adetimehin; the Director of General Services and Administration, Mr. Idowu Ajibola; the Head of Education, Information and Sports Department, Mrs. Demehin Ayobamidele Olufunke; and the Internal Auditor, Mr. Ayo Odulaja, were all commended and presented with awards for their outstanding commitment to ethical standards, professionalism, and quality service delivery in the Local Government Administration in Nigeria for year 2024/2025.
Hon. Jamiu Mohammed Asimi in his Acceptance speech expressed deep gratitude to Almighty Allah for the honour. He thanked the Centre for the recognition and appreciated the community for their continued trust and support. He affirmed that the award would further inspire the local government to improve its' service delivery and positively impact more lives.
He commended his team and entire staff for their dedication and hard work, and encouraged everyone to continue working together for the progress of Ikenne Local Government.
The event was concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Ifetayo Ifede, who appreciated the Centre for their commendation and wished them greater success in their noble mission.
The award ceremony was well attended by Political Office Holders, Directors, Heads of Departments, Staff , and other distinguished guests.
