Chris Brown Pleads Not Guilty to Two Additional Charges in London Nightclub Assault Case
American R&B singer Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to two additional charges in connection with a February 2023 incident at the Tape nightclub in London. Appearing at Southwark Crown Court on Thursday, Brown denied allegations of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against music producer Abraham Diaw and the possession of an offensive weapon—specifically, a bottle—during the alleged altercation. This comes after he had earlier denied a more serious charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm in June.
According to prosecutors, CCTV footage reportedly shows Brown in the middle of a heated confrontation that turned physical inside the crowded Mayfair venue. The footage is said to capture the moment a bottle was wielded in what authorities describe as an unprovoked assault. Brown’s co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, also pleaded not guilty to related charges and was present during the court session. The court was told that both men were in a group that confronted Diaw before the attack escalated.
The 36-year-old singer was granted conditional bail earlier this year after posting £5 million, with restrictions on his travel and contact with the alleged victim. Despite the ongoing legal battle, Brown has resumed his world tour, with North American shows scheduled for later this month. The trial is set to begin in October 2026 and is expected to last about a week.
