The Oyo State Government has officially reiterated a strict ban on the use of mobile phones, smart watches, and Meta eyeglasses within school premises—especially during examinations. The policy aims to curb rising cases of exam malpractices linked to digital devices.
The directive was emphasized by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, during a meeting held at the Ministry’s conference room in Ibadan. He stressed that existing official circulars require schools to enforce the ban without exception and urged teachers, parents, and guardians to monitor compliance.
Violators of the ban are warned of “strict consequences,” although specific sanctions weren’t detailed. Olayiwola also called on educational institutions to uphold discipline and integrity, and for caregivers to help enforce the rules from home.
