Governor Adeleke, Osun PDP Endorse President Tinubu for 2027 Re-election
In a surprising political twist, Governor Ademola Adeleke and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State have officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
The endorsement was made public on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, after a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held in Osogbo. The party leaders described Tinubu as a "true son of Osun" and declared their readiness to support his re-election, despite party differences.
The communique, signed by Adeleke, his deputy Kola Adewusi, PDP state chairman, members of the National and State Assemblies, and other notable leaders, highlighted widespread consultations with traditional rulers, youth groups, and civil society before reaching the decision.
Adeleke, who reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP, said his administration was aligning with Tinubu’s leadership at the federal level for the sake of development and unity in Osun State.
The endorsement has sparked heated reactions across Nigeria’s political landscape, with analysts describing it as both strategic and controversial. While some applaud Adeleke’s pragmatism in putting state interest first, others see it as a betrayal of party principles.
As the 2027 general elections approach, this endorsement could reshape political alliances and voting dynamics in the South-West region.
