Fayemi Refutes Amaechi’s Claim on Opposition Coalition Talks
Former Ekiti State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has dismissed claims by ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, that both men jointly initiated discussions to form an opposition coalition before involving other politicians.
Amaechi, speaking during an X Space on Saturday, said: “Fayemi and I began the coalition discussion, and we subsequently agreed to broaden it so that it would involve more than just the two of us talking about starting a new party.”
However, in a statement on Sunday, Fayemi’s media aide, Ahmad Sajoh, described the claim as “false and misleading,” stressing that the former governor remains a loyal APC member. Sajoh said it was possible Amaechi was misquoted, warning against controversies built on fabricated or distorted remarks. He added that Fayemi has always reaffirmed his commitment to the APC and its progressive ideals.
