IBADAN – The Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) has issued a strong rebuttal against false reports circulating on social media claiming the demise of veteran Nollywood actor and cultural icon, Chief Olalere OsunPaimo (MFR), popularly known as Baba Eda Onile Ola.
In an official statement released by the National Public Relations Officer, Prince Adejonwo Oluwafemi Femson, the ANTP labelled the rumours as "FALSE" and confirmed that the legendary actor is alive and in good health.
The clarification came after the association directly confirmed the actor's status with his wife. The statement emphasised that the false reports are being propagated by "unscrupulous individuals."
Chief Lere Paimo, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the ANTP, is a celebrated figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry, renowned for his decades-long career in theatre and film.
The ANTP urges the public and media outlets to disregard the malicious rumours entirely. The statement further called on everyone to exercise caution and verify information from credible sources before sharing it online to prevent the spread of misinformation and unnecessary distress.
