Bayelsa assembly confirms Peter Akpe as Deputy Governor

The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Pastor Peter Akpe as the state’s new Deputy Governor. Until his appointment, Akpe served as the Chief of Staff to Governor Duoye Diri. 

The assembly confirmed Akpe’s appointment during its plenary session on Tuesday morning,February 24. 

Akpe nomination comes after the sudden demise of the former deputy governor of the state, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who slumped and passed away inside his offive on December 11, 2025.
