The award ceremony, hosted on Tuesday at the AMORAN state headquarters, drew an assembly of committee members and local stakeholders who turned out to celebrate Sokoya’s ongoing commitment to societal harmony.
In his citation, the Chairman of the Ogun Central PIC, Comrade Akeem Abioro, extolled Otunba Sokoya for his steadfast backing of the committee’s peace initiatives. He described the AMORAN leader as a key ally whose financial and moral support has significantly enhanced the committee’s ability to fulfill its mission of promoting unity and curbing social vices like cultism throughout Ogun Central.
"Otunba Sokoya’s contributions have been a bedrock for our operations," Abioro remarked. "His partnership has empowered us to push forward with our peace agenda and create a tangible impact within our communities."
Upon receiving the honour, Otunba Sokoya expressed his appreciation to the committee for acknowledging his efforts. He characterized the award as a call to greater service, pledging to deepen his collaboration with the group to ensure lasting peace in the region.
Sokoya commended the committee’s strides in fostering dialogue and reducing tensions among youth, urging its members to remain unwavering in their pursuit of a harmonious society.
"A peaceful environment is the bedrock upon which we can build a prosperous future," Sokoya stated. "I commend the Peace Initiative Committee for its dedication and encourage you all to persist in your vital mission until peace becomes a permanent reality in every corner of Ogun Central."
The Ogun Central Peace Initiative Committee remains a prominent youth-driven organization focused on fostering peace, enhancing community cohesion, and eradicating cultism and other disruptive elements from local areas.
