A Statement on the 2027 Ogun State Gubernatorial Question

The Weight of History
Fifty years ago, on the 3rd of February 1976, the military administration carved out Ogun State from the map of Nigeria. Half a century of political history and yet, a fundamental question of fairness remains unanswered: Why has Ogun West never produced a Governor?
This is not merely a question of politics. It is a question of justice. It is a question of equity. It is a question of what kind of democracy we are building when one zone is perpetually sidelined while another lays claim to power as though it were birthright.
The Record Speaks for Itself
Ogun East — and specifically the Remo axis — has already produced the Governor of Ogun State twice. The incumbent Governor, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun (PDA), hails from this same corridor. Under his leadership, the state has recorded commendable achievements: infrastructure development, landmark projects, and visible progress that resonates across all three Senatorial Districts and the 236 wards of our Gateway State.
We acknowledge this. We honour it.
But achievement does not justify monopoly. Governance by rotation is not charity — it is *constitutional equity in practice.
A Landmark Consensus Already Reached
In a historic and unprecedented show of political maturity, Governor PDA convened a landmark meeting that brought together all political gladiators, potential aspirants, and eminent leaders from across the state. The outcome was clear, unanimous, and binding:
Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, FCA representing the YEWA axis of Ogun West was affirmed and validated as the CONSENSUS CANDIDATE for the 2027 Gubernatorial Election.
Every potential aspirant was present. Every voice was heard. The consensus was reached in good faith, and YEWA's time was formally recognised.
This was not a gift. It was justice long overdue.
The Question That Must Be Answered
Against this backdrop, one question now pricks the conscience of every right-thinking citizen of Ogun State:
Why is another candidate from the Remo axis the same community as the outgoing Governor now positioning himself for the 2027 gubernatorial race?
After 16 years of back-to-back administration from the same senatorial zone, after a publicly affirmed consensus, and after 50 years of Ogun West waiting — what moral, political, or democratic argument justifies another Remo candidacy?
We ask with respect. We ask with restraint. But we ask with conviction.
A Call to the People of Ogun State
To the electorate, the voters, the market men and women Iyalojas and Baba Lojas the civil servants, artisans, teachers, professionals, and elites:
To the NURTW, RTEAN, AMORA, ROMO members across every ward and local government:
Shine your eyes.
The 2027 election is bigger than party loyalty. It is bigger than personal interest. It is about whether we, as a people, will honour the agreement freely made by our leaders or betray it for the sake of those who have already had their turn.
Ogun West has waited long enough.
Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, YAYI, is READY.
Vote for growth. Vote for development. Vote for fairness.
The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice. And in 2027, it bends toward YEWA.
It is YEWA. Not Remo.
