Good vision equals good quality of life. The Executive Chairman Ikenne Local Government, Hon. Olusegun Ogunleye organised a free eye screening with the provision of eye glasses and medical check up for all indigenes and non-indigenes of Ikenne Local Government Area. The flag-off ceremony took place at Iperu Akesan Club Hall on Thursday 2nd November, 2023.
In his welcome address, he commended our pragmatic leader and Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, CON for his support towards the development of the State and the people at the grassroot especially Ikenne Local Government.
While speaking at the event,he stated that health is wealth, our health is very important especially the eyes which is among the most sensitive organs of the body and it's considered to be one of the most important sensory organs of the body, taking care of the eyes should not be ignored. Going for eye screening should be taken very seriously because it is important to stay healthy, early treatment is important in order to prevent some common eye diseases from causing permanent loss of vision.
He urged everyone present to always check their blood pressure and sugar level regularly to avoid untimely death.
Furthermore, he stated that the programme will be extended to other communities across the local government area, below are the schedule of activities:

Mrs Olusola Enilolobo, Chief Nursing Officer, Ikenne Local Government described eyes as an outer layer part of the body, a window to the world. Eyes is getting blurred gradually due to age limit. She implored the people to be cautious of Cataract and Glaucoma which is an eye diseases that causes total blindness. She said a "stitch in time saves nigh", prevention is better than cure.
Evangelist Lekan Ifede, the Chairman Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) appreciated the Council Boss for the provision of medical treatment and free eye glasses to the people of Ikenne Local Government. He further commended him for the great job performed during his tenure.
Dr. Ositelu David, Lisa of Ogere Remo enlightened the people to take good care of their sight, the ear and other sensory organs of the body. He encouraged the Chairman to continue the good work he has started with his people.
One of the beneficiaries of free eye glasses, Mrs Tolulope Musediq on behalf of other beneficiaries thanked and gave kudos to the Executive Chairman for the provision of free medical check-up and free glasses to reduce blindness in the community.

Bisi Adeshina, Member of SUBEB , Mr Kola Odusanya, Secretary to the Local Government, Mr Rotimi Osinowo, Supervisor for Primary Health Care Mr Ademola Awosipe , Adviser for Community and Women Affairs Alhaja Fausat Adeyiga, Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) Mr Rufus Ajani Olaleye and all others.
