In his address, Hon. Asimi expressed heartfelt gratitude to Almighty Allah and appreciated the unwavering support of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for the crucial role played in securing victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last election.
The Chairman emphasized that socio-economic advancement of the local government remains the administration’s primary focus. Despite assuming office late in 2024, a comprehensive review of the previous budget was conducted. The 2024 budget had a total outlay of ₦4,320,655,147.00, funded through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), statutory allocations from the Federation and State Accounts, as well as grants. The IGR target for 2024 stood at ₦90,450,000.00, representing over 2.1% of the total budget.
For 2025, Hon. Asimi presented a balanced budget of ₦6,298,669,070.00, reflecting the administration’s resolve to improve living standards, boost grassroots development, and increase local revenue generation. He noted that the budget’s policy thrust includes expanding the revenue base, optimizing resource utilization, and strengthening public-private partnerships (PPP).
Adequate provisions have been made for key sectors including agriculture, portable water supply via boreholes and deep wells, infrastructure and equipment upgrades, rural road rehabilitation, and other people-centered projects.
Hon. Micheal Olawale Odujoko, Leader of the Legislative Council, commended his colleagues for their commitment to grassroots service delivery. He praised the administration’s adherence to due process in governance and reiterated the Council’s readiness to ensure swift passage of the 2025 Appropriation Bill.
