Kaduna State Declares Six Months of Free Public Transport to Ease Economic Hardship

In a significant welfare-driven policy shift, the Kaduna State Government has introduced a six-month free public transportation scheme for residents. The initiative, aimed at mitigating the financial strain caused by inflation and high transport fares, will be implemented across all state-owned buses and major intra-city routes.

Governor Uba Sani made the declaration during a press briefing in Kaduna, stating that the move is part of his administration’s commitment to social welfare. He emphasized that the initiative targets students, workers, and low-income earners who are disproportionately affected by the rising cost of living and fuel-related challenges.

The government has also hinted at plans to introduce additional CNG-powered buses to ensure sustainable and eco-friendly mass transit. Monitoring teams will be deployed to prevent abuse of the scheme and ensure its smooth implementation across major routes in the state.
