Nigeria Customs Warns Public Against Fake Online Recruitment and Auction Scams
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has raised an alarm over a surge in fraudulent online schemes falsely advertising recruitment and auction opportunities. The agency disclosed that impostors are using fake social media profiles of senior officers, including that of the Comptroller-General, to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians.
According to a statement released by the Customs spokesperson, the NCS is not conducting any recruitment or auction exercise at the moment. All genuine updates, the agency clarified, are shared only through official channels. One suspect, Okoli Okana Boniface, was arrested for impersonating a presidential aide in connection with a scam.
The NCS urged members of the public to disregard unofficial messages and report any suspicious activity. The service reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance against fraud and warned that offenders would face the full weight of the law.
