EYO HERITAGE IPERU HOLDS STRATEGIC MEETING WITH PAKERIKE EYO FAMILY TO REVIVE ORISUN EYO HOUSE
The leadership of Eyo Heritage Iperu on Sunday, 15th February 2026, held a strategic meeting with the revered Pakerike Eyo Family as part of ongoing efforts to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of Iperu. The meeting marks another significant step in strengthening collaboration between the heritage body and key custodians of the Eyo tradition.
The meeting was graced by the President of Iperu Akesan Development Association, Alhaji Taiwo Oyebanjo, popularly known as Avalon, alongside members of the Eyo Heritage Iperu Committee led by Omooba Barr. Gbenga Owokalade Esq., and other distinguished committee members. Their presence underscored the unity and collective commitment of community stakeholders toward cultural advancement.
Central to the discussions was the agenda to resuscitate the historic Orisun Eyo House located at Ilugoke, Iperu. The proposed revival aims to transform the ancestral Eyo house into a vibrant tourism attraction center that will not only preserve the sacred roots of the Eyo tradition in Nigeria but also boost cultural tourism and economic development within the community.
In their response, the Pakerike Eyo Family expressed deep appreciation for what they described as bold and visionary steps taken by the Eyo Heritage Committee. The family acknowledged that the initiative aligns with their long-standing dream of projecting the Orisun Eyo legacy in a positive and sustainable manner for generations to come.
Eyo Heritage Iperu remains committed to promoting, protecting, and positioning Iperu’s cultural heritage on a global stage through strategic partnerships and community-driven initiatives.
