The exercise, which is expected to take place at the ward level, is aimed at strengthening the party structure by ensuring that only committed and active members remain in leadership positions.
According to an internal directive, the review will focus on seven major guidelines approved by Governor Abiodun, who is the leader of the party in the state.Stakeholders have been instructed to review the existing ward exco list and make adjustments based on the following criteria:
1. Deceased Members: Any ward executive who has died is to be removed and replaced accordingly.
2. Inactive and Docile Members: Executives who have shown little or no commitment to party activities and have been largely inactive are to be replaced with more vibrant members.
3. Disloyal Members: Individuals found to be disloyal to the party or working against its interests will not be retained.
4. Members with Health Challenges: Those who, due to prolonged illness or health issues, are unable to perform their duties effectively may be stepped aside.
5. Members No Longer Interested: Executives who have expressed disinterest in continuing in their roles or have moved on from active politics are to be replaced.
6. Statutory Appointment Holders: The directive specifies that individuals currently holding statutory political appointments should not be considered for ward exco positions unless they tender their resignation from such appointments.
7. Special Circumstances: The guidelines also provide room for special circumstances that may require adjustments outside the listed categories, subject to proper consultation and approval.
The exercise is seen as part of efforts by the Governor Abiodun-led administration to ensure a vibrant and responsive party structure at the grassroots level ahead of future political activities.Stakeholders have been urged to adhere strictly to the guidelines to ensure a transparent and seamless review process.
