Homecoming of Impact: Dr. Mesturah Shittu Launches Foundation in Irolu Remo



The town of Irolu Remo in Ikenne Local Government came alive on Tuesday, 26th May 2026, as sons, daughters, leaders, and residents gathered in large numbers for the official launch of the Dr. Mesturah Foundation, a humanitarian and community development initiative established by Dr. Mesturah Shittu.

Dr. Mesturah Shittu, an indigene of Irolu Remo and currently serving as the Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, stated that the foundation was created out of her passion to give back to her people and contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Irolu Remo, Ikenne Local Government, Remoland, and Ogun State at large.

The colorful event also witnessed the inauguration of the foundation’s executive members, humbly led by Mr. Tiwalade Gbenga, who currently serves as the Special Assistant on New Media to the Executive Chairman of Ikenne Local Government. He was deputized by Mr. Moruf Shittu, while Mr. Salami Olanrenwaju serves as the Secretary of the foundation.

The event attracted dignitaries from different sectors including government officials, royal fathers likes of HRM Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi CFR, the Akarigbo of Remoland chiefs, religious leaders, youth representatives, student leaders, and community stakeholders. The hall was filled to capacity with attendees from Irolu Remo and neighboring towns who came to celebrate and support the laudable initiative.

Among the distinguished personalities present at the event were HRH Oba Adeyiga Sikiru Adeyilo, the Onirolu of Irolu Remo who was fully represented by Queen Bola Adeyiga, Prince Wale Oyekoya, Evang. Olalekan Ifede, Hon. Jamiu Mohammad Asimi, Hon. Ifetayo Ifede, Hon. Gboyega Ogunfowokan, Hon. Bidemi Oyedeji, Rev. Bola Oyeladun, Alhaji Bello, Alhaji Kehinde, Hon. Femi Opasanya, Alhaji Balogun, Hon. Femi Ogunnawo, Aare Akeem, representatives of the Irolu Development Association, and representatives of the Irolu Youth Development Association.

Special appreciation was also extended to respected royal fathers, the foundation’s patron Colonel Dele Oyefuga, the foundation’s matron Chief Yetunde Liyele, Engr. Yomi Awodipe, Sesan Ogun, as well as dignitaries from other parts of Ogun State including Comrade Omolara Sansa and Hon. Olajumoke Ogunbanwo from Odogbolu.

As part of the empowerment and support initiative of the foundation, brand-new clothes of different sizes ranging from babies to adults were distributed freely to members of the community. Food items were also shared to support families, while customized exercise books were presented to primary school pupils to encourage educational development within the community.

Another major highlight of the event was the presentation of Awards of Excellence to notable community icons who have contributed immensely to the development and progress of Irolu Remo, Ikenne Local Government, and Remoland at large. A tribute was given to Dr. Mesturah Shittu late mum that made her emotional.

In her remarks, Dr. Mesturah Shittu appreciated Prince Dapo Abiodun for giving her the opportunity and privilege to serve under his administration and contribute to the progress of Ogun State.

She further stated that charity begins at home, which inspired her decision to establish the foundation in her father’s hometown of Irolu Remo. According to her, the foundation will continue to focus on impactful programs across education, community sanitation and environmental cleaning, sports development, youth empowerment, healthcare support, agricultural support, and security support for the betterment of society.

The successful launch of the Dr. Mesturah Foundation marks a new chapter of community service, humanitarian outreach, and grassroots development in Irolu Remo and beyond, while reinforcing the importance of leadership, compassion, and giving back to society.
