According to Comrade Oluwafemi Abiodun (OLUOMO), peace remains the greatest asset of every community and must be protected through vigilance, truthfulness, and unity. He emphasized that citizens must not allow fear, misinformation, or negligence to create opportunities for criminal elements to thrive.
He advised residents to verify every piece of information before sharing it on social media and community platforms, stressing that fake news often spreads faster than actual threats and can create unnecessary panic among the people.
The community leader further called on residents to remain observant of their surroundings by reporting suspicious movements, unusual gatherings, or strange activities to appropriate security agencies and community leaders without delay.
Comrade OLUOMO also encouraged citizens to speak up whenever they notice anything capable of threatening public safety, noting that criminal activities often succeed where people choose silence over action. However, he cautioned against making baseless accusations or profiling innocent individuals, stressing that every report should be based on facts and credible observations.
He urged residents to take personal safety seriously by avoiding unnecessary late-night movements, securing their homes with proper locks and lighting systems, and maintaining regular contact with trusted family members whenever they travel.
Furthermore, he advised citizens to keep emergency contact numbers readily available, including those of security agencies, vigilante groups, and community leaders, as prompt communication can make a significant difference during emergencies.
Comrade Oluwafemi Abiodun (OLUOMO) also emphasized the importance of protecting personal information, warning against sharing sensitive details about one's movements, family, or property with strangers either online or offline.
In his closing remarks, he encouraged residents to look out for one another, especially the elderly, vulnerable persons, and those living alone, noting that a safer community is built when neighbours genuinely care for one another.
"Our security is a shared responsibility. Through vigilance, truth, cooperation, and unity, we can continue to keep Sagamu, Remo-Land, Ogun State, and Nigeria safe and peaceful. Together, we shall overcome every challenge and preserve the peace we all cherish."
