FAECO REMAINS THE AUTHENTIC APC CANDIDATE FOR REMO FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY – OLUOMO URGES PARTY MEMBERS TO DISREGARD FALSE RUMOURS

The attention of Comrade Oluwafemi Abiodun (OLUOMO), a Sagamu-born grassroots mobilizer, philanthropist, and committed progressive, has been drawn to a series of unfounded rumours and misleading claims being circulated by certain individuals seeking to create unnecessary tension within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Remo Federal Constituency.

The false narrative alleging that Hon. Funmilayo Efuwape, popularly known as FAECO, is not the duly recognized APC candidate, or that the National leadership of the party has disqualified her, is entirely baseless, misleading, and should be disregarded by party faithful and members of the public.

For the avoidance of doubt, no official statement, directive, or announcement to such effect has been issued by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC or through any of the party's verified communication channels. The rumours being circulated are therefore the handiwork of political detractors whose intention is to sow discord among progressives in Remoland.

It is important to state that the APC adopted both consensus and direct primary processes for the emergence of candidates across various elective positions. Hon. Funmilayo Efuwape duly participated in all the stipulated processes, including the purchase of nomination forms, screening exercises, consultations, and the party's approved primary process. Her emergence as the party's candidate followed established constitutional and democratic procedures of the APC.

Furthermore, the consensus approach is not new to APC politics in Remo Federal Constituency. The process was successfully utilized during the bye-election that followed the passing of the late Rt. Hon. Otunba (Dr.) Oriyomi Adewunmi (Ijaya), where party leaders collectively agreed on a consensus arrangement and other aspirants willingly stepped down in the overall interest of the party.

Indeed, the consensus model has been widely adopted across the country by the APC in the selection of candidates for various positions, including gubernatorial, senatorial, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly elections. It is therefore surprising that some individuals would seek to portray the emergence of Hon. Funmilayo Efuwape through the same process as unusual or illegitimate.

Hon. Funmilayo Efuwape did not impose herself on the party. Rather, her emergence is a reflection of her years of unwavering loyalty, dedication, commitment, and service to the progressive family. Her track record speaks volumes about her capacity and readiness to serve.

A brief look at her political journey reveals a remarkable history of grassroots mobilization and public service. Hon. Efuwape began her political career in Lagos State, where she actively mobilized support for progressive causes before returning to her home state of Ogun. Through hard work and dedication, she rose to become a Local Government Chairman and subsequently served twice as Commissioner in Ogun State. She is also the founder of the FAECO Grassroots Movement, an organization widely recognized for empowering party members, supporting community development initiatives, and promoting progressive ideals within and beyond Ogun State.

It is equally noteworthy that consensus arrangements have benefited several party members, including Comrade Oluwafemi Abiodun (OLUOMO), who was once persuaded by party leaders to step down from his ambition for the chairmanship position of Sagamu Local Government in the overall interest of party unity. Since then, he has remained steadfast in supporting party candidates and has continued to contribute to the welfare and empowerment of APC members and residents across Sagamu Local Government.

As the political season progresses, this is not the time for desperate politics, misinformation, or divisive tendencies. The people of Remoland must remain united and focused on the collective goal of strengthening the APC and ensuring the continued success of the progressive administration.

Comrade Oluwafemi Abiodun therefore calls on all APC members, stakeholders, supporters, and the general public to disregard rumours capable of causing unnecessary division and to rally behind the party's duly recognized candidate, Hon. Funmilayo Efuwape (FAECO), as preparations continue for future electoral engagements.

Together, let us preserve the unity of our party, uphold the principles of progressivism, and support the ongoing efforts to move Remoland and Ogun State forward.

Signed:

Comrade Oluwafemi Abiodun (OLUOMO)
