Presidency calls out man parading self as chairman of a fake Presidential Council agency

In a statement released on Wednesday, July 1, Presidential media aide, Bayo Onanuga, denied claims the Presidency was aware of Adeyemi’s activities. Adeyemi paraded himself as the Director-General of two fictitious agencies: the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council and the Presidential Economic Advisory Council. Onanuga, in the statement released, said Adeyemi’s activities came to light after the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council noticed someone operating at cross-purposes. 

Onanuga said this prompted the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, to trigger a police and DSS probe on October 17, 2025. Adeyemi illegally hosted a meeting with foreign ambassadors at a luxury hotel and tried to trick the Ministry of Foreign Affairs into issuing a note verbale to secure US visas for his staff. Onanuga in the statement, also mentioned that the police, during their investigations, discovered Adeyemi operated 34 bank accounts. Nine were under fake agency names and that he even successfully misled the Accountant-General of the Federation to open a Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) account, though no government funds were deposited. 

Onanuga mentioned that after he was arrested, Adeyemi tried to accuse the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, of giving him his letter of appointment but that this has since been dismissed by Gbajabiamila.
