CONSULTANTS, SPECIAL CONSULTANTS TO OGUN GOVERNOR HOLD STRATEGIC CONSULTATION MEETING IN ABEOKUTA

Stakeholders reaffirm commitment to good governance, grassroots engagement and APC unity ahead of 2027

ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE August 11, 2026: Consultants and Special Consultants to the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, on Tuesday held a strategic consultation meeting at the Governor’s Office, Abeokuta, with discussions focusing on effective service, government citizen engagement, grassroots mobilisation and collective preparedness ahead of the 2027 political season.

The meeting brought together members of the consulting team to review their respective responsibilities, reflect on the confidence placed in them by the Governor and deliberate on practical ways of strengthening their contributions to the administration and the continued development of Ogun State.

The consultation provided a platform for participants to exchange views on governance, communication, grassroots engagement and the political environment, while reinforcing the importance of responsible and coordinated participation in matters affecting the state and the party.

APPRECIATION FOR GOVERNOR'S CONFIDENCE

One of the key issues raised during the meeting was the need to appreciate Governor Dapo Abiodun for the opportunity and privilege granted to members of the consulting team to serve in their respective capacities.

Participants recognised their appointments as an opportunity to deploy their professional experience, knowledge, relationships and networks in support of government programmes and initiatives.

They also acknowledged the strategic role consultants can play in strengthening communication between government and citizens by providing informed feedback, engaging communities and helping to communicate government policies and programmes effectively.

BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN GOVERNMENT AND THE PEOPLE

The meeting further examined the importance of effective communication in ensuring that citizens remain adequately informed about government programmes, policies and achievements.

Participants stressed the need to understand the concerns and expectations of communities and ensure that relevant feedback reaches the appropriate quarters.

According to the discussions, consultants and special consultants have an important role to play in facilitating constructive engagement between the administration and the people, particularly through consultation, communication and continuous interaction with stakeholders.

The participants also highlighted the importance of presenting government programmes and achievements accurately and responsibly while maintaining an effective feedback mechanism from the grassroots.

GRASSROOTS ENGAGEMENT AND THE 2027 POLITICAL OUTLOOK

Attention was also given to the need for sustained grassroots engagement as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.

Participants discussed ways of improving public awareness, encouraging participation and strengthening engagement around government programmes and the broader political direction being discussed for Ogun State.

Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, was referenced during the discussions in relation to the evolving 2027 political conversation in the state.

However, participants emphasised a broader approach to party engagement and support, stressing the importance of unity, coordination and collective responsibility within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

SUPPORT FOR APC CANDIDATES THROUGH RECOGNISED PROCESSES

Another significant issue discussed was the possibility of providing financial, logistical and organisational support to APC candidates who emerge through the party's recognised electoral or consensus processes ahead of the 2027 elections.

The discussion centred on strengthening party structures and ensuring that duly selected candidates receive appropriate support from members and stakeholders as part of efforts to enhance the party's preparedness for the elections.

Participants made it clear that the proposed support is not restricted to Senator Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi).

Rather, the proposed approach is intended to cover all APC candidates who are duly elected through the party's recognised electoral to contest the 2027 elections.

The emphasis, participants noted, is on building unity within the party, encouraging coordination among stakeholders and promoting collective responsibility in supporting candidates who emerge through established party mechanisms.

EMPHASIS ON RESPONSIBLE POLITICAL SUPPORT

The meeting also underscored the importance of ensuring that any financial, logistical or political support provided during the electoral process is carried out responsibly and in line with applicable electoral laws, regulations and party guidelines.

Participants acknowledged that political participation must be conducted within the framework of the law, while party members and stakeholders are expected to uphold responsibility, discipline and respect for established electoral and party processes.

COMMITMENT TO GOOD GOVERNANCE

As the meeting drew to a close, participants reaffirmed the responsibility attached to their advisory and consultancy roles.

They agreed on the need to continue demonstrating commitment, professionalism and responsibility while contributing meaningfully to the objectives of good governance and the development of Ogun State.

The meeting also emphasised the importance of maintaining strong communication with citizens, deepening grassroots engagement and supporting initiatives capable of promoting unity, development and effective representation across the state.

CONCLUSION

The consultation meeting provided a strategic platform for reflection, appreciation, coordination and collective planning among Consultants and Special Consultants to the Governor.

Beyond reviewing their roles, the meeting reinforced the importance of strengthening the relationship between government and citizens through effective communication, consultation and grassroots engagement.

It also highlighted the significance of unity within the APC and coordinated support for candidates who emerge through the party's recognised electoral or consensus processes ahead of the 2027 elections.

The meeting ended with a shared understanding that the responsibility of serving as consultants extends beyond advisory functions to include constructive engagement, responsible communication and meaningful contributions to the overall progress and development of Ogun State.
