Davido: I Have Billions Waiting For Me, I Work Because I Love Music, Not Money
Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has revealed that despite coming from a wealthy background, he still pushes himself to work hard — something he sometimes regrets.
Speaking with music executive Bankulli after his sold-out concert at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada, on Saturday night, Davido opened up about the emotional toll of his career.
The ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ hitmaker noted that although hard work mentally drains him, he continues to put in the effort not because of money, but because of his love for music and his fans. He emphasized that being the son of billionaire businessman Adedeji Adeleke means he already has billions of dollars at his disposal and doesn’t need to work to survive.
“I regret being hardworking sometimes. The stress and mental energy it demands, especially with so many odds against me, is draining,” he said. “But I do it because I love my job. I have billions of dollars waiting for me — even if I never work again.”
