Yusuf Launches 500 Transformers for Kano’s 44 LGAs
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has flagged off the distribution of 500 electricity transformers to rural communities across the state’s 44 local government areas. The initiative is part of his administration’s rural electrification programme aimed at revitalizing socio-economic activities and improving power supply in underserved areas.
Speaking during the launch, the governor said the transformers—ranging from 200kVA to 500kVA capacities—will serve schools, health centres, places of worship, and small businesses. He emphasized the importance of reliable electricity in reducing poverty, curbing insecurity, and enhancing economic opportunities for rural dwellers.
Governor Yusuf urged local government chairmen to set up monitoring committees to ensure proper installation, maintenance, and protection of the transformers. The project also ties into ongoing efforts to evacuate power from the 10MW Tiga Hydro-Power Plant to support energy delivery across the state.
