Champions League: 4 teams secure Round of 16 spot

The first four teams to reach the UEFA Champions League last 16 have been confirmed following the conclusion of the knockout play-off second legs on Tuesday night.

Atletico Madrid secured qualification with a dominant 4-1 victory over Club Brugge, completing a 6-3 aggregate win. Alexander Sorloth starred with a hat-trick at the Wanda Metropolitano to send the LaLiga side through.

Newcastle United also advanced after a 3-2 win over Qarabag, sealing a commanding 9-3 aggregate triumph following their emphatic first-leg victory in Baku.

Inter Milan, however, were eliminated by Bodo/Glimt, who claimed a 2-1 win at the San Siro to complete a 5-2 aggregate upset.

Bayer Leverkusen also booked their place in the Round of 16 after edging Olympiakos 2-0 on aggregate.
